Time to get

...out and smell the spring flowers. I absolutely love Spring time with the wild flowers and new baby animals and the fresh spring smell. I also love the fact that now I can get outside and start walking and biking off these EXTRA pounds. Many of you who've known me for a while may look through this blog or on my facebook profile and see that I am much bigger than High School, even up to a few years ago. I feel I am ready to take on the challenge of losing inches and lbs this Spring/Summer since I am 30 lbs over the weight I should be and 50 lbs over the weight I was when I got married (10 years ago May 10th).

I am not one who can blame it on having 3 babies. In fact I would loose 18-25 lbs in the first 13 weeks of my pregnancies with all my girls and only gain back about 10. No, I gained the lbs by not exercising and eating whatever I wanted and it seemed that after I had a baby I had to eat chocolate every day. Bad, bad choices.

So here I am, confessing more than I thought I would to friends and strangers so that maybe I will stick through the personal training I received from Twila (Grusendorff) Jensen, who is a certified personal trainer. She has worked with me since November and although I haven't lost weight I know my body is changing, my clothing fits a bit looser and when I so go through the weight training, core exercises and cardio I feel more energetic and healthier. I have to admit that I have been a slacker here and there, especially during the cold snowy day where I just wanted to stay inside and I did.
But Spring is here and on Monday I started eating the food she's recommended and am getting in my exercise. It is raining right now but I'll get in my 45 minutes of cardio and core work, promise.
Goal: To lose 10 lbs or more by June 30, 2007 or get into a size 12 comfortably.

I hope I set myself up for success by telling you my goals for the next 2 months and I hope you will support me and cheer me on. Feel free to ask if I've done my exercise or stayed away from the sweets.

Good luck!!! 'Been there done that' and believe me it is soooooooo worth it to stick to it. The thing that helped me the most is to do the dreaded BEFORE picture (one day you will want it, I promise. Just take it and then hide it somewhere so you have a comparison for later). Another thing that really worked is to not only do weigh ins but do measurements so that the weeks you don't lose pounds you can see that you have lost inches, that helps keep you motivated. Call me if you need/want advice or someone to whine to. I am also trying to lose the 20 I gained back after surgery last year, so you aren't the only one looking longingly at the chocolate bars at the Merc=)

Good job . . . I'm sure you can do it . . . especially if you're spilling it all out to everyone . . .
One thing I've learned. Register for something . . . I registered in February for the 1/2 marathon at Disneyland on Labor day. When you know you have to do it, you've got to work out and so you do . . . I'm sure there are things around southern alberta. Even a 10 K . . . you can start small and work you're way up. Sucker a friend to do it with you, then you can train together and have the same goals. Sometimes you NEED each other. Keep us posted on how it's going.
PS. I'll be up there in a couple of weeks. I'm planning on running the "T" a couple of times . . . you can join me if you'd like . . . Just let me know
