I can't say when the last time I went to a Bowlby branding, probably when I as a little girl. So yesterday, May 31st, I headed out to Grandma and Grandpa's, with the girls to visit with any family that would be there. I was told they were branding at 2pm but when I arrived at 1:30 they were already 1/2 done and my part of the family (mom, dad, Dennis and Robyn) weren't there yet. Ben and Becka's family, Gary and Dawn's family, Auntie Char and Rod, Uncle Brian, Jamie, Dallin and another couple, whom I didn't know, were there getting the job done. When I first arrived I went into grandma's room and visited with her, just like old times. Becka came in periodically to update us on the progress outside and even came into inform us she had castrated her first BIG bull calf (now a steer), with her bare hands. Good job Becks! My family showed up when the branding was complete but separating still needed to be done so they got in on that fun. Thank goodness Auntie Char was there willing to let my girls (at least Nevee and Pacey) have a few rides on her horse, Maggie. Thank you muchly! Hey Dawn how you feeling after being stuck by the inoculation gun? lol Good for you getting in there and helping get things done!

All done! It was a beautiful day for branding and the announcement that Dennis and Robyn have finally set a wedding date, August 23rd 2008! Yay, and congrats to you two!
I did get some footage, of the separating, with my new Sony Handycam but haven't figured out where to find the video's on the computer, so until I figure that out, have a great Sunday!

How fun, I miss branding day tons. My hubby's not so big on the idea, but I love it. Glad the weather held out for you guys.
I LOVE Dennis' outfit, it was really one of the highlights of the day. This is the third year in a row that I have done the ear tags and innoculations...I think it is your turn next year and I'll take the pictures=)
